Bronchial Thermoplasty
Bronchial Thermoplasty (BT) is not another medication; it’s a safe outpatient procedure that is clinically proven to reduce asthma attacks, and improve asthma-related quality-of-life measures.
In a clinical trial1, 79% of patients treated with BT reported a significant improvement in their asthma-related quality of life. BT-treated patients also experienced or reported:
- Fewer asthma attacks (which may reduce the need for oral steroids)
- Fewer emergency care visits and hospital admissions
- Fewer days lost from work, school, and daily activities because of asthma
BT delivered by the Alair™ System is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but like any medical procedure, it does involve some risks. Your asthma symptoms may worsen in the days immediately following the procedure, but typically go away within a week using standard treatments.
