Saint Mary’s joins Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic, and others as award recipients as a top hospital in their respective states
Reno, Nevada (October 27, 2023) – Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, was named by Newsweek recently as the top hospital in the state of Nevada as it received the 2024 America’s Best-in-State Hospital Award.
Hospitals from every U.S. state were eligible for the 2024 ranking, which was an independently performed study. Newsweek calculated scores for each hospital by weighing recommendations from both in-state and out-of-state peers, patient experience data, hospital quality metrics from CMS and The Joint Commission, and analysis of patient-reported outcome measures (PROM) implementation. Those on the list represent the leading hospitals across the United States and are positioned as the best site for care in their respective state according to the methodology used.
“This is a significant recognition to be celebrated among the nation’s best in a wide variety of many important healthcare metrics,” said Derrick Glum, CEO of Saint Mary’s Health Network. “Not only is our organization proud to be recognized as the best hospital in Nevada, but to be mentioned along with other top healthcare systems in the United States is a true honor. Our team of dedicated healthcare professionals, including nurses, technicians, therapists, and physicians provide incredible care and service to our community, and we are thrilled to have their work highlighted in such a manner as this.”
Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center was joined by Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, Mount Sinai, Cleveland Clinic, and other prestigious hospitals who received the award in their respective states. Newsweek partnered with Statista to conduct the national online survey for the rankings, in which tens of thousands of healthcare professionals were asked to recommend the leading hospitals from their respective state. (Recommendations for their own employer were not allowed.)
This recognition comes after Saint Mary’s recently received a number of clinical excellence awards from Healthgrades, including five-star ratings for cardiac pacemaker procedures, hip fracture treatment, spinal fusion surgery, treatment of pneumonia, carotid surgery, gallbladder removal, and treatment for respiratory failure. Together with the Newsweek award, these five-star ratings reflect the hospital’s commitment to consistently delivering the best care possible and places the organization in the upper echelon of hospitals nationwide.
