Saint Mary’s is recognized with the HeartCARE Center National Distinction for the 6th consecutive year

Reno, Nevada (November 18, 2025) – The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has once again recognized Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center for its exceptional commitment to comprehensive, high-quality cardiovascular care. Saint Mary’s was awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence after meeting rigorous accreditation criteria and demonstrating ongoing excellence through performance registry reporting. This marks Saint Mary’s sixth consecutive year receiving the HeartCARE Center designation, solidifying its place as northern Nevada’s leader in cardiovascular care.

“Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to providing northern Nevada with excellent heart care,” said Deepak L. Bhatt, MD, MPH, FACC, chair of the ACC Accreditation Management Board. “ACC Accreditation Services is proud to award Saint Mary’s with the HeartCARE Center designation.”

Hospitals and health systems that achieve ACC HeartCARE Center status must meet a set of stringent standards, including participation in at least two ACC Accreditation Services programs, National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) registries, and targeted quality improvement initiatives designed to elevate patient care and close gaps in guideline-based practice. Saint Mary’s maintains multiple ACC accreditations, including Cardiac Cath Lab-PCI Accreditation, Chest Pain Center-PCI Accreditation, and Transcatheter Valve Certification through ACC Accreditation Services. The hospital also participates in ongoing NCDR registry reporting as part of its continuous improvement efforts.

“This designation reflects the exceptional skill and compassion of our cardiovascular teams, whose work ensures northern Nevadans can receive nationally recognized heart care without ever leaving our region,” said Derrick Glum, MBA, FACHE, CEO of Saint Mary’s Health Network. “Their expertise elevates the standard of heart care in our community and strengthens our ability to meet the region’s growing needs with confidence and excellence.”

Hospitals receiving the HeartCARE Center designation have shown a sustained dedication to delivering consistent, exceptional cardiovascular care through process improvement, disease- and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence, and community engagement. Saint Mary’s continues to invest in a forward-thinking, sustainable quality improvement culture that drives better patient outcomes year over year.

This national recognition adds to a growing list of recent awards earned by Saint Mary’s for its commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. In Fall 2025, Saint Mary’s received another Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade ‘A’, recognizing its strong performance in patient safety. The hospital was also honored by Healthgrades as a 2026 Leader in Specialty Care, celebrating exceptional clinical outcomes across multiple service lines. Additionally, Saint Mary’s was named Best Hospital in the 2025 Best of Sierra Nevada awards, further underscoring its trusted role in the region.

The ACC offers U.S. and international hospitals access to a comprehensive suite of cardiac accreditation services designed to optimize patient outcomes and strengthen hospital performance. These services support hospitals in improving all aspects of cardiac care, from emergency response to long-term disease management.
