Reno, Nevada (June 23, 2026) Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, has received an “A” Grade in Social Responsibility, Health Equity, Value of Care, Inclusivity, Pay Equity, and Cost Efficiency on the 2026 Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility, demonstrating excellence and placing it among the top hospitals nationally for overall commitment to health equity, value, and outcomes.

“The best hospitals aren’t just clinically excellent, they’re deeply committed to the communities they serve and work hard to ensure all patients get the care they need,” said Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute. “High performance on the Lown Index shows that hospitals are doing more of what matters to patients and communities.”

Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center also led the state of Nevada in the following categories according to the Lown Index:

  • #1 in Nevada for Pay Equity
  • #1 in Nevada for Social Responsibility
  • #1 in Nevada for Cost Efficiency

“This recognition from the Lown Institute reflects Saint Mary’s commitment to advancing excellence across every dimension of healthcare – from patient outcomes and health equity to social responsibility and workforce investment,” said Derrick Glum, MBA, FACHE, CEO of Saint Mary’s Health Network. “We are proud to lead Nevada in pay equity while also being recognized for our performance in health equity, inclusivity, and patient outcomes. These distinctions underscore our belief that delivering exceptional care means creating value for our patients, supporting our caregivers, and strengthening the communities we serve.”

Saint Mary’s latest recognition from the Lown Institute adds to a growing list of national accolades, including its recent inclusion on Becker’s 100 Great Community Hospitals list and receipt of the Healthgrades 2026 Patient Safety Excellence Award. Saint Mary’s is the only hospital in Nevada to achieve this distinction for 10 consecutive years, placing it among the nation’s top 5% of hospitals for patient safety.

The Lown Institute Hospitals Index is the first ranking of hospital social responsibility, evaluating nearly 4,000 hospitals on their performance across health outcomes, value, and equity. The Lown Index uses over 50 measures including novel metrics such as community benefit, inclusivity, and patient safety. The full methodology can be found here.
