Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center is proud to welcome two new community board members to the organization. Patrick Cashell, Regional Director of Volunteers of America and local business owner, Christina Ghiggeri, both joined the growing team of board members who support the hospital’s mission and are responsible for reviewing quality and process improvement initiatives.
“Saint Mary’s is fortunate to have the leadership and business expertise that Patrick and Christina bring to our board,” said Helen Lidholm, CEO of Saint Mary’s Health Network. “As we continue growing our strategic community partnerships, we look to local leaders who will support our mission of caring for our patients and ensuring we adhere to stringent quality and safety guidelines.”
As Regional Director of Volunteers of America, Cashell leads 70 program staff in providing shelter, outreach, case management, affordable housing and other support services for thousands of men, women, and children in Northern Nevada. He also manages and helped found Reno Works, a workforce development program that provides homeless shelter residents with an opportunity to transition into the workforce and permanent housing. Patrick’s passion for community service stems from his own experience with homelessness and addiction. For a decade, Patrick battled a crippling drug addiction that eventually left him living on the streets. Today, with over eleven years of recovery under his belt, he harnesses his experience and knowledge in providing insightful solutions to complex matters regarding mental illness, homelessness, and addiction.
Ghiggeri is a native Nevadan and attended the University of Nevada Reno where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Health Ecology. Ghiggeri has a passion for health and fitness which led her to owning and operating her own successful local gym, Soul Space Fitness. Christina has a passion and love for the Reno area and has donated volunteer hours for community events including Moms on the Run, Polio Purple Pinky Trail Run & Walk, JUSTin Hope Foundation and countless others. Ghiggeri has an entrepreneurial spirit and a drive for supporting the local business community.
